How to soak up spring in Hale

After a long, cold winter, it’s time to shake off the chilly weather and start planning for the fresh warmth of spring. If you live in Hale or the Greater Manchester area, then you’ll be pleased to know that you have a choice of fun, outdoor activities to enjoy.

Whether you prefer relaxing on the lawn, browsing through fresh produce or feeling the wind in your hair, there are many different ways to soak up the spring in Hale. Here are a few we’d recommend.

Wythenshawe Park

What better way to take advantage of the crisp, spring air than heading down to Wythenshawe Park with the family. The park is open from dawn until dusk and entry is free, even for the furry members of your family! Take a picnic blanket and enjoy the outdoor space, or make use of the many facilities within, including a baseball field, and horse riding and orienteering course.

Wythenshawe Park Community Farm

Special mention must be made of the Wythenshawe Park Community Farm that gives visitors the opportunity to learn about food and the different parts that go into a working farm. The farm is also home to cows, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and even a prize-winning herd of Hereford cattle!
Abbotsfield Park and miniature railway

Abbotsfield Park offers a relaxing outdoor environment. The park is a great space to lay a picnic blanket and spend time with the family and there are various facilities to enjoy for a little bit of extra excitement. We especially love the miniature railway ride on Sundays which is a huge hit with the younger visitors to the park. There are also tennis courts, bowling greens and play areas to enjoy.

Gullivers World Warrington

A quick 30-minute ride will bring you to Gullivers World Warrington which boasts over 80 rides, attractions and shows to enjoy each day. The family-friendly attraction promises a fun day out, with indoor activities in case the weather isn’t favourable. Choose from a wide range of theme park rides, attractions and resort activities such as the SplashZone.

Sale Water Park

It may not be swimming weather, but spring is the perfect time to visit Sale Water Park and enjoy a relaxing day out in the countryside. Set up a picnic by the water or venture into the parkland and explore the great outdoors. While you’re there, keep an eye out for the pair of swans who live on the lake.

On the cooler spring days when the outdoors aren’t as welcoming, take the time to spring clean your home. Freshen up the space and give each of the rooms a deep clean, decluttering items that aren’t used on a regular basis.
