2013 Starts with a flurry of activity for Storage World
Since the turn of the year Storage World has had a flurry of both snow and sales enquiries – some days it feels as though both are in equal measures. However at such an early stage in our business evolution it is tricky to observe trends, beyond that fact that snow affects Southerners far worse than it does us in the North!!
There are clearly a whole bunch of sales enquiries that originate from the depths of New Year Resolutions – i.e. those who have promised to effect a life change, or lifestyle shift, requiring our services to do so. These range from people preparing a home for building works to a home trader making the first, bold step into a more meaningful commercial enterprise.
The commercial space has been interesting as many enquiries have been created by businesses concerned by their increasing or crippling property costs. This was highlighted earlier this week on The One Show, as High Street rental costs were put under the spotlight. We recall a particular lady taking a significant pay cut to afford property costs, perhaps not realising that there are other ways – Self Storage being perhaps the most recent and certainly the most modern!
What is fairly obvious to us is that awareness of Self Storage & Workspace facilities such as Storage World is growing. Certainly once someone uses a facility, they start to notice them everywhere and think they are “popping up” Yet the truth is the rate of increase is less than 25 new site per annum accross the the UK.
The significant shift is in awareness, and more so that people are coming up with more reasons to require space – for work or play, short or long term, occasional access or frequent visitor. Self Storage is certainly evolving, perhaps only limited by our imaginations.
So if you are snowed in or stuck in traffic, why not ponder how you might use some extra space in your life!
