Forget resolutions this year. With Manchester’s wealth of exciting events spanning year-round, look out, rather than in, for an event-visiting plan you can stick to. Around your home, you’re sure to find possessions that will inspire you to head into the city this month – all while placing them into Storage World storage, keeping both your home clear of clutter and your brain stimulated as you look forward. Here are a few ideas to help kick-start your best year in the city yet.
Place in storage: old CDs/records; head to the City Centre.
Old music is notorious for taking up space at home, so why not place it in self-storage instead? Your CDs and records will be kept completely safe with Storage World, and with our facilities being located just half a mile from the centre of the city, you can pop back whenever you want to retrieve that classic album.
In the meantime, why not go and see the Oasis DNA exhibition at Manchester Central Library? Exploring Oasis’ journey through photographs by Jill Furmanovsky, it’ll get you nostalgic about Britain’s biggest 90s Britpop band (unless you’re a Blur fan). The exhibit runs until 28th January.
Place in storage: holiday/birthday decorations; head to the City Centre: Chinese New Year celebrations
It’s a quiet time of year for public holidays now, with Christmas well and truly behind us and not much happening until Easter (which falls, this year, in mid-April). In other words, it’s the perfect time to store away your decorations: tinsel, banners, bunting, baubles – whatever it is, turn to Storage World to store your items worry-free until it’s time to pull out the party poppers again.
Instead, head to the celebrations held in Manchester’s centre to try great food, hear wonderful live music and, of course, experience the Chinatown Dragon Parade – all in honour of the vibrant Chinese New Year. 26th-29th January.
Place in storage: old art projects/books from your school days; head to the City Centre.
As much as it’s lovely to keep your old poster paint masterpieces, home isn’t usually the best place for them, particularly if you’re trying to promote a reinvigorated lifestyle for the new year. Don’t make any hasty decisions, though – simply store them away with Storage World, and make room for new art instead.
We’d suggest heading to ARTIST ROOMS: Andy Warhol, an exhibition on at The Whitworth that runs until 16th April, leaving you ample time to peruse the darker, more serious works of one of America’s greatest Pop Art artists.
Don’t forget that Storage World is here for you whatever you choose to do in Manchester this month and beyond. Give us a call today: with self storage rooms ranging from shower cubicle size to half a tennis court, that’s more than enough space for CDs, decorations and old artwork!
