When exams are over and the long summer break has finally come around, the next problem you need to tackle is moving home. A lot of students will find that they’re unable to leave their belongings in their student house over the summer – but you’ve amassed so many bits and pieces over the year that taking it all home on the train is the last thing you want to do.
So, what are your options?
The long trip home
Option number one is the most unappealing, in our opinion – put all of your pots and pans into cardboard boxes, your clothes into black bin liners and hope that some kind soul is willing to help you carry it all to your train. Once you’ve struggled to your seat, you’ve then got to either keep an eagle eye on your stuff for the five hour journey back to your parent’s house, or trust that the other train passengers aren’t going to try their luck with one of your big blue IKEA bags.
Leave it in the house
Many landlords don’t allow students to leave their things in the house over the summer, so you’ll have to check that this is an option with them first. Even if they do, it can be risky business. If you’ve got expensive or sentimental possessions in your house, then we wouldn’t recommend you leaving them there.
Manchester based self storage units are offered by businesses like Storage World, and they might just be the perfect solution to all of your summer storage woes. Storage World offers private, secure and affordable storage. Don’t worry, you won’t have to rent an entire warehouse to keep your stuff safe – there are plenty of options available depending on how many boxes you need to keep safe. There’s also a ‘refer a friend’ scheme, meaning that you and your friend both receive a gift voucher when they sign up on your recommendation.
Self storage is an ideal solution for Manchester based students. If you’re looking to keep your things safe over the holidays, then get in touch to find out more.
