Out with the new and in with the old seems to be the order of the day as vintage fashion continues to enjoy a renaissance in Greater Manchester. Whether you’re shopping for clothes on a budget, or you just want to add some more interesting items to your wardrobe, you shouldn’t ignore some of the city’s best vintage stores.
If it’s decent clothes on a budget you’re after then you should take yourself to Piccadilly Gardens to seek out Thrift Shop. Bargains are commonplace in Thrift Shop simply because they have a pricing system in place that allows you to purchase three items for £10. Other items in the store are likely to only set you back £4, so no matter where you look throughout the store, you’re bound to come across plenty of budget-friendly options. Be advised though, organisation is not something that Thrift Shop is known for. There is very little attention seemingly paid to how the clothes are displayed, but that only makes it even more rewarding when you find the perfect item.
Pop Boutique is a bit of a Manchester institution having been part of the city centre since 1983. The very fact it’s still a vibrant shop to this day is clearly a testament to the quality of the clothes you’re likely to find amongst the shelves. As well as plenty of vintage goodies, Pop also stock branded items of their own which tend to come with a fairly reasonable price tag.
On the same street as Pop, you’ll find Oxfam originals. Next door to Piccadilly Records, Oxfam Originals is always worth a look. With plenty of stock and especially friendly staff who are only too keen to help you out, you may be able to find yourself several bargains.
If it’s true retro that you’re after then you won’t go far wrong with Retro Rehab. If you adore cocktail dresses as well as midi skirts and jumpsuits, then Retro Rehab will be like paradise to you. With its bright mint exterior the store is hard to miss, and with regularly rotated stock, you’ll find yourself going back again and again.
Remember, if you’re looking to clear out some space in your wardrobe, or you’d just like to move some items out of your home, Flexispace can help. Our Manchester based self storage options are a great way to gain extra space for a reasonable price.
